Potential of Sunflower-Legume Intercropping: A Way Forward in Sustainable Production of Sunflower in Temperate Climatic Conditions

The ongoing climate change, coupled with the transformations of cultivation practices and land use in sole crop production, may cause a significant decline sunflower yield stability. Considering that is third oilseed world market, 45 million tons grain per year, it takes fourth position vegetable oil implementation sustainable growing technology production necessity. above, goal research was to analyze recommend intercropping systems. A four-year trial conducted Serbia’s agroecological conditions (45?34?23.2?? N 19?86?18.9?? E) using split-plot design. Two oil-type hybrids one confectionary-type hybrid were intercropped common vetch, red clover, alfalfa. Common vetch × resulted decrease almost all traits. Moreover, alfalfa proved be most appropriate. NS Gricko Rimi PR statistically on same level cropping, while biomass had better results after Gricko, as compared cropping. In view prevailing belief yields are more stable than further needed this respect, addition time method sowing.
